Why isn't anyone responding to my emails on Yahoo Personals?

I started up on Yahoo Personals a little while ago and have sent emails to about a dozen women. None of them have responded and only one of them has bothered to look at my profile. I thought I wrote pretty good emails. I wasn't offensive and I left open-ended questions to try to facilitate a conversation. In fact for a couple of them I was a perfect match! Given that they didn't even bother to look at my profile, the only thing I can think of is that none of them are involved in the Personals any more. Even then, when I look at their profiles, for some of them, it says they're online and active. I don't get it. Am I doing something wrong?
