Can you miss hidden skills in zelda twilight princess?

Ive gotten 4 hidden skills. The first 3 were in order but i skipped the howling stone at the sacred grove and i got the howling stone at lake hylia and then got that skill. I tried going back to sacred grove to activate the stone but it wont work for some reason.
