Is it possible to hear noises BEFORE you fall asleep and get sleep paralysis?

So yesterday I had sleep paralysis. I woke up in the middle of the night, but I heard this really loud and weird noise outside. It sounded like a UFO (in my idea) so I was too scared to even look outside to see what it was and too scared to go to the bathroom. I eventually went to the bathroom, but when I came back to my room I still heard the noise! I was scared so I went back to sleep. But then I got sleep paralysis. My body froze and I couldn't speak an I don't know about my eyes, because I could see my surroundings, but not sure if I actually opened my eyes.. I felt a hand on my left hand and I saw figures on my left and I literally thought they were aliens from the UFO noise trying to abduct me... So is it possible to hear noises BEFORE?
